Once a summer, it seems, the entire Burnham clan attempts to get together, usually when brother Kelly travels from Colorado to Minnesota. This year Kelly, his girlfriend Jen, and the kids, Katjana and D'Ar, came to Minnesota for two weeks. Although we, the Jay Burnham clan, didn't get to see them too much, Jay's sister Kathy did host a wonderful Burnham family BBQ at her house where we, and the rest of the family, made good use of the pool. Almost everyone in the family made it--we were only missing our nephew Michael and our niece Molly did have to leave for a few hours to go to work. Otherwise, Jay's mom, all five of her kids, all of her thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren were there. And although we just saw most of the family at the end of May for Jackie and Aaron's wedding in Slayton, it was nice to be together as a family in more casual setting.
The weather was beautiful, the food was great, and overall, the family had a great time. Ainsley really liked the pool, as did Eli. Jay spent a good deal of the day swimming with Eli in the pool. Each time Eli's in the water (whether it's the lake or the pool), I see his confidence and willingness to try new things in the water grow.
